The patient came to your exercise sessions 80% of the time during the 8 week period. Since she only needed to comply by 70%, she was granted the lap band surgery. After 12 weeks, she has lost 50 pounds and has eliminated her insulin and cholesterol medications but is still on the hypertension meds. Her knees also are starting to feel better. You meet with this person post-surgery for an exercise assessment and the post surgery program. This time, she is very resistant to your exercise advice. In fact, she has no interest in participating in your exercise program anymore.
What would you tell this patient regarding the importance of exercise post-surgery despite the large reductions in bodyweight?
Educate regarding that Physical activity after weight loss surgery improve the circulation, reduce the risk of blood clots and hypartension, promote wound healing and improve your bowel function.
After surgery Weight loss is a gradual process.lose it slowly and steadily, about one to two pounds per week.
Tell to the patient ,that exercise helps burn the fat and it reduce the risk of heart issues,hypertension,diabetes
EXercise help to you have more energy and feel better. Regular exercise can strengthen heart and bones, improve y blood sugar, enhance your immune system so less likely get sick, and make it easier to do everyday activities . There is also evidence that exercise can enhance mental function and resolve the depression and anxiety.
