You are an I/O psychologist consulting with an individual who wants to start a small business (two or more employees). Your client wants the business to be one in which the employees have a manageable level of stress, so you will need to consider the workload and environmental factors. Your client also wants to promote good communication among all employees, so you may need to consider the office layout, design, and other factors. Your client wants his/her employees to enjoy their jobs and be committed to the company. Consider the responsibilities of the necessary employment positions. Consider what needs to be included in the employee selection process (interview only, tests, screenings, etc.) and what types of training may need to be provided. Design a list of recommendations for your client’s basic plan for his/her small business.
As an I/O Psychologist the following recommendations can be given to an individual who wants to start a small business with two or more employees.
To avoid stress.
1.The business being at the initial level care should be taken as to check with the workload of the employees that should be acceptable with the standards and equally distributed.
2.Pressure should not be given at any level by asking them to do projects that are new and tough.
3.Time constraints of completing a job should also be regularly checked.
Office layout and design.
1.Since there are only two to three employees the office can be structured compact .
2.Seating can be set in such a position that each face others at ease.
3. Communication should be made ease among all.
Employees to enjoy the jobs.
1.Employees should be made responsible for all as the business is just initiated.
2.Good salary package and amicable environment will make an individual satisfied in the job.
3.Innovation and creativity should be encouraged.
Employee selection process.
1.Interview and screening an be made a compulsory process.
2.Experienced candidates can be given preference.
3.Tests or samples in regard to the business can be an additional process.
Training for the employees.
1.Basic business need training should be given.
2.Motivation and their part of commitment should be stressed through training.
3.Career opportunities and growth through their job can be hinted upon.
