Was the dropping of the Atomic bombs necessary to end the war? Why or why not?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The most devastating effects of the last two atomic bombs of world war 2 which was blasted on Hiroshima and Nagasaki is still seen among the people living around with genetic illness. At the end of war Japan was already in a state to surrender but even the bomb was dropped at that time. The surrendering time of the Japanese itself gives a brief idea that dropping the atomic bombs to end the war was completely unnecessary. Even if the bomb is not dropped the war could have come to an end because most of the leaders or the nation itself was ready to surrender and end the war.

In analyzing hits by bombs in a past war, a city was subdivided into 457 regions, each with an area of 0.25-km². A total of 356 bombs hit the combined area of 457 regions. The Poisson distribution applies because we are dealing with the occurrences of an event (bomb hits) over some interval (a region with area of 0.25-km².
