The history of the black community is peppered with different activist groups and movements. What is the impact of activism on black community and why do we need to still have different iterations of activism focused on black communities?
One of the most important factors that helped any oppressed groups to gain their rights was movements that were created by group of people. Black community in the US started with the abolitionist movement and it’s still continuing with the Black Lives Matter movement. This would mean that the white community is still struggling hard to understand the concept of equality and the statement, ‘all men are created equal’ which is mentioned in the constitution. They still try to prove their superiority over the Black community and cause damage to them. Although movements helped the African Americans to overcome slavery and earn civil rights legally, systematic racism still holds them back neglects them from education, employment, housing, healthcare etc. This would mean that people need these movements until justice is served and equality is achieved as mentioned in the constitution.
