Internal Factors
Leadership- Great leaders direct and inspire. Perhaps the most persuasively way they do this is by example. Nelson Mandela returned to South Africa to lead the government, after 30 years of brutal and isolated imprisonment. It would have been understandable if Mandela had retaliated for the repression of Apartheid regime in South Africa after gaining power. Rather, he supported correspondence, empathy and pardon. Consequently, with limited aggression, South Africa gained independence and maintained and used the expertise of the majority of its people.
Communication- Effective companies rely on strong collaboration processes, where managers and team members openly and frequently collaborate to improve results. This two-way contact spans from top to bottom, up and down the hierarchical structure. Communication deficiency organizations, also have rigid leadership frameworks that undermine trust.
Organizational Structure- Most organizations at one time had highly hierarchical structures, with many layers of management and leadership defining the organization from top to bottom. More recently, there's a increasing belief that organizations with flat structures – few hierarchical levels from top to bottom – outperform hierarchically organized organizations. W. L. Gore, a highly profitable global materials science organization focusing on research and product creation, has over 10,000 staff with only three hierarchical levels: a directly elected CEO, a few department heads and everyone else.
External Factors
Factors external to an entity may be political, cultural, social or technical. In these broad areas, the same internal factors which contribute to the success of an organization inevitably characterize the relationship of that organization with the external environment. For example , an organization with a clear sense of purpose can better describe itself to the world, and can connect with the positive elements of each region.
Leaders who are able to understand and share what they have learned within their organizations will also understand from and interact effectively with the external world of the organization, resulting in a constant exchange of ideas for the good of both the organization and its community.
Including the effect of the # MeToo campaign aimed at reducing sexual misconduct, businesses are also affected by social developments in the world. Numerous businesses have seen high-level executives exit the organization after levied valid charges. Companies often respond to gender equality concerns by comparing male and female employee compensation to ensure similar positions earn similar compensation.
