Historian Joan Kelly argued that women did not experience the Renaissance because they were not included in the modern trends that we associate with that movement. They were not independent, active, virtuous individuals; rather, their lives became increasingly restricted. How could Castiglione’s writing support Kelly’s argument? In your first paragraph, explain how the Renaissance man made greater strides than the Renaissance woman by citing "The Courtier". Then articulate how Fonte reacted to women’s subordination by citing from her writing. Your analysis should be two paragraphs
The renaissance was the period in which people experienced many kind of changes in society, cultural beliefs and rituals. The modern Europe is formed by the renaissance.
Historian Joan Kelly urges that the participation of men was greater and effective than women, because of contemporary beliefs and rituals.
In my opinion, the participation of men was really greater than women, but we must understand the contemporary scenario towards women. The society were divided in various ethnicity, cultural beliefs etc. a male dominant society did not allow women to come out from home and participate with men, but the participation of women were internal and effective. We must understand that direct participation of women was not easy at that time but they worked for their male partners and indirectly participated in renaissance.
Fonte’s reaction on women subordination was some kind of different and it described the real condition and situation of women in male dominant society. The contemporary conclusion do not describe the participation of women because they did not participated directly but Fonte take this problem as understanding and mentioned women situation.
