Omani company for investment ( OCI ), is one of the biggest business company in Oman, it has diverse varieties of investment, one of these businesses is an old tower building, 20 floors located in Seeb area used as offices by multiple companies.

OCI decided to change the purpose of the building to a residential building, so it started to plan to demolish the building through one of its construction company.

The location description of the building is located in a very crowded area, the main gate of the building opening to the main road in the North direction, East and West directions of the building attached to two buildings, the South direction of the building is next to a wadi. after the company communicated its plan to all governmental authorities, the municipality requested that the work should be finish in a very short time due to the nature of the area.

1. Suitable technique- Selective demolition

Because- The building is attached to other buildings in east and west direction. All other type of demolition techniques will cause harm to those other buildings.In selective demolition, only selected parts of the building is demolished and structural elements can be preserved. Then it can be remodelled to required purpose.

2. Precautions-

removecopper wiring, glasses, and other materials that could be hazardous on the demolition day.
implement engineering surveys, utility location, medical services and medical, fire and police contact, prior to the start of any demolition.
hire only trained and experienced employees
all employees should be wearing and equipped with the proper equipment
