What are some reasons that moral values might be universal other than the claims of religion being true? What are the logical implications of moral values are not universal? Is that something that we can simply give up on?
We all live in a world where moral values plays an important role in more or less everyone’s life though moral values varies from person to person and according to their judgment and beliefs. Now the question arises “What they believe whether moral values are universal or not??” According to the writer judgement” yes” but it may differentiate from person to person the justification is most of the people in this world aims to be a good human by helping people and to create a environment full of trust, friendship and bondage. To make a healthy environment for people to live in. Though cultural issues had made it harder to create an homogeneous environment nevertheless all the differences aren’t that significant and most of the human aim to build their own values and understanding in a positive way. Moral values are normally communal and shared by the person in general, thus if there is no mutual understanding among community members no moral values will be established. The universal moral values are those which are granted by international community like : equal rights, peace, human dignity, honour agreements, social progress and so on.
Now comes, the logical implication of moral values are not universal, Some people claim their ethics are objective, provided by a seraphic being or the nature of reality while other claims that it is purely subjective. Attempting of murder and theft are not universal societal values, for a human society could act against it. Damaging environment and harming other people affect moral values though hatred lies in many corner of the world and inside people which tends to harm other people’s motives these all signify that moral values are not universal though it has been identified that certain values are found in great diversity of human cultures and religion distinction and difference in religion tends to differentiate people from each other, such as primary attributes of physical attractiveness. There are basically no such reason to give up on morals values there are ample of reason of moral values being universal and very less to none reason that it’s not universal.
Every society needs to be tied together by common values, so that its members know what to expect of each other, and have some shared principles by which to manage their differences and distinction without resorting to violence.
