How ethanol acts in HSP and in knockouts ( be specific)
Ethanol action in HSP-
Ethanol activate heat shock protein (Hsp) genes transcription in astrocyte culture.
ethanol prompted HSF1-dependent transcription Hsp gene class member.
As heat shock motivates Hsp gene transcription, we can used this treatment as a positive control. The results of ethanol exposure on the induction of the Hsp genes did not differ significantly.
GENE KNOCKOUT EFFECTS ON ETHANOL CONSUMPTION
In neurotransmission they can have opposing actions, many neurotransmitter system facilitate the ethanol effects. Additionally, neurotransmitter systems themselves, independent of the ethanol effect, may be involve in ethanol intake and self administration by mediating behavior which influences consumption of ethanol.
Knockout mice was used in many of the cited studies in the ethanol. For example, mice lacking the ENT1 gene show minor responses to ethanol. The ethanol did not affect them as much, and indicate ethanol interact with the ENT1 receptor. Transgenic mouse was the Fyn kinase lacking mice. These did not produce any Fyn product. This showed that NMDA receptors was not phosphorylated. So, Based on this, the result is that Fyn is the enzyme which acts on the NMDA receptor
