1) Which is more important, knowing blood type or knowing cholesterol level?

2) What is the difference between blood chemistry and blood serum?

3) How does diet affect the course of diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1)

* Emergence of knowing cholesterol:-

Heavy cholesterol results in heart problems, that is the only emergence of knowing cholesterol.

* Emergence of knowing blood type:-

It is required to know the blood type during blood transfusion, during surgery, after heavy blood loss in accidents, etc

When 2 types of bloods mixed clumping of blood cells take place, that can be potentially fatal.

So I think it is more important to know blood type than cholesterol level.

2.

Blood chemistry:- This is the test done to measure the amount of certain substances in blood. Substances include electrolytes like potassium, sodium, chloride, fats, proteins, glucose, enzymes, etc.

Blood Serum:- This is a fluid component which does not play a role in clotting. Serum includes all proteins, electrolytes, antigens, antibodies, etc which are not used in blood clotting. Serum tests measures the clear liquid portion amount of serum in blood.

3.

* Diabetes milletus:- The food which contains fats, calories, cholesterol should not be eaten by diabetes patient because that may increase risk of diabetes and poor diet also leads to obesity(another risk factor in diabetes). So diet should be taken only which includes high in fibers and low in fats, cholesterol, salt, sugar.

* Coronary heart disease:- In the stage of disease condition patient should not take oil foods which may increase cholesterol that may result in narrow arteries which may cause cinary heart disease.

Cholesterol is a type of fat found in the blood. It is measured as a concentration: the number of milligrams of cholesterol found per deciliter of blood (mg/dL). A high level of total cholesterol in the bloodstream increases risk for heart disease. For this problem, assume cholesterol in men and women follows a normal distribution, and that “adult man” and “adult woman” refers to a man/woman in the U.S. over age 20. For adult men, total cholesterol has a mean...

You measure the blood cholesterol of 12 cross-country runners. The mean level is x = 172 mg/dL. Assume that σ is the same as in the general population. How large a sample is needed to cut the margin-of-error in half for a 90% confidence interval of the mean level...
