Answer 1: The bioogical species concept suggests that despite the fact that some species have different physical appearance, they tend to interbreed and produce fertile offsprings. This concept, thus, emphasizes that all biological species need to appear same physically and the reproductive compatability of the species is independent of their phenotypes.
Answer 2: A rain-shadow is a natural phenomenon observed generally at large mountain ranges. Accordign to this phenomenon, when the highly moist air comes in contact with a mountain range on one side, it precipitates. However, since the height of the mountain is very high, the moist air tends to move upwards and gets cooler in temperature. This cooled air then flows in the leeward or downward direction against the normal direction of flow and hence, due to failure of containing sufficient moisture, it fails to precipitate. On the other hand, snow-fall or drizzling is generally observed on the other side of the mountain. This phenomenon of overcasting a barrier by a high mountain range leading to failure of normal precipitation is called rain shadow.
