What are Nucleic acids? Why are they important? What are some of the important functions of nucleic acids? Give a list of some important nucleic acids.
Nucleic acid are polymers or small bio molecules which are essential for the life forms. They are the main information carrying molecules of the cell and by directing the process of protein synthesis, they determine inherited characteristics of living thing. That's why they are very important for the living things.
There are two main class of nuclear acid DNA and RNA.
DNA constitutes the genetic information of the cell. It controls the synthesis of RNA. The sequence of nitrogenous base in DNA determines the protein development in new cell.
RNA participate in the protein synthesis. It synthesize new protein using the Stored genetic information of DNA.
Nucleic acid are polynucleotides in which each nucleotide has a nitrogen aromatic base attached to a five membered ring. Nitrogen containing bases are cytosine, Guanine, Thymine, adenine, and Uracil.
DNA has 4 nitrogen base:- Cytosine, Guanine, adenine and thymine.
While RNA has Uracil.
