There are many reasons for the American Civil War. Although slavery is generally considered the main cause of war, political and cultural differences between North and South undoubtedly contributed to the war. Below we will look at some of these differences and how they formed between North and South, which eventually led to civil war.
Industry and agriculture
By the mid-19th century, the economies of many northern states had moved from agriculture to industry. Many people in the north live in big cities like York, Philadelphia and Boston. However, the southern states have maintained a large agricultural economy and this economy is based on slave labor. Although the North no longer needed slaves, the majority of the South depended on the way of life of slaves.
State rights
The concept of national rights is not new to civil rights. The first draft constitution was the subject of discussion between the federal states and the federal government. Southern states believe that the federal government is denying them their rights and their rights.
Expansion
As the United States moved west, each new state transferred power from north to south and feared losing the southern states as its power. Each new country has become a battleground for two parties fighting for power.
Slavery
Most of the problems in the south are slavery. The South depends on slavery in territorial matters. Many in the north see slavery as a bad thing. These people are called. They want slavery to be illegal in the United States. Murders such as John Brown, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tyman Bowman and Harriet Beecher Stowe have started convincing Vietnam and more and more people are becoming aware of the perverted nature of slavery. As a result, the monuments fear the end of their way of life.
Bleeding Kansas
The first war against slavery took place in Kansas. In 1854, the government passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which allowed Kansas residents to choose whether they were slaves or free states. Supporters of both sides flooded the region. Discuss the topic for the year. Many people died in these skirmishes and the clashes became bloody. Kansas eventually joined the Federation in 1861 and became an independent state.
Abraham Lincoln
The straw that broke the southern glass was the election of Abraham Lincoln as President of the United States. Abraham Lincoln is a member of the new anti-republican slavery party. He was successfully elected and not one of the ten southern states. The southern states believed that Lincoln was against slavery and the South.
Sucession
When Lincoln was elected, many southern states decided not to be part of the United States. You feel like you are leaving. Eleven states in South Carolina would eventually leave the United States to form a new state. Abraham Lincoln declared that he could not leave America and sent troops to prevent him from leaving the South. Civil war has started.
