M02 Discussion Board
It is important that we all understand the issues and variables involved with installing point-to-point communications. You WON'T be required to memorize the Fresnel Zone or earth bulge formulas. However, you WILL need to know the principles regarding these topics and when and why you would use these formulas. "Make-up", describe, and illustrate 2, point-2-point environments. One, where the Fresznel Zone might be a very important consideration and one where Earth Bulge might be a distinct factor. Discuss with your fellow class colleagues what might be done to minimize these effects.
Please answer all questions, also make comment on all subjects that are presented for comment. Post your initial post before the designated mid-week deadline for initial posts. Initial posts should be substantive and a minimum of 150 words
Fresnel Zone formule should be considered where the transmitter and reciver have a direct line of sight with some obstabcle in between at a lower height, fresnel zone are created due to the fact the signal scatter out from the transmiter and distribute across a certain radius of the direct line of sight, here we should be considering the fresnel zone formula in order to calculate the effect of the obstacle on the signal strength and this effect can be minimized by choosing a line of sight between the transmitter an dthe reciver with minimum or no obstacle , so that there is no hindernace to the signal and hence the loss of the signal strength will be minimized. The Earth bulge effect is due to the fact that if we transmit the signal over the larger distance over the wireless transmission the signal might get lost due to the fact that earth has a ellipitical shape and it is bulging out at a certain point that will restrict or stop the signal by becoming a obstacle , hence the signal might get lost or the whole signal may be lost due to the earth surface being bulging out , this formula is considered when the transmission of the signal needs to be done over the larger distance where the earth bulging out will be cause. This type of problem can be reduced by increasing the height of the both towers so that the earth bulging out does not effect the signal as we will be trasnmitting the signal at a height were the earth bulge will not be problem to the transmission.
