Solutions

Expert Solution

3) Weight of green solution given = 2.5 g

we have to prepare 5% of solution,

5% of solution means 5 g of solute present in the 100 mL of solution

we have only 2.5 g of light green.

dissolve the 2.5 g of the compound in 50 mL of solution.

then percentage of solution will become 2.5/50*100 = 5%

Total volume of solution = 50 mL

4) 10% congo red solution means 10 g of Congo red in 100 mL solution

we have the formula % of solution = mass of the solution/volume of the solution * 100

2% = 10/V*100

V = volume of the solution = 1000/2 = 500 mL

so we have to add 400 mL of water to 100 mL of 10% of Congo Red solution to prepare 2% of solution.

2% COng red solution means 2 g of Congo red in 100 mL of solution

mass of Congo Red m is given by for 2% of 50 mL of Congo Red solution

2% = m/50 * 100

m = 1 g

then we will add 100 mL water to the above solution then,

2 g of Congo red in 200 mL of solition

i.e., 1g in 100 mL of solution or 2 g in 200 mL of solution

Volume of 10% of Congo red solution = 100 mL

Volume of water = 400 + 100 = 500 mL
