A newly elected U.S. president has to assemble a cabinet and fill many key administrative positions. Disregarding the politics of the situation : What challenges do you think a new president faces in building a team? What advice would you give a new president to help build a high performing work team?
*The following challenges the new president would face in building a team:
a) The challenges would be on creating the vision and the mission, as where the whole team is new.
b) Challenges faced on the interaction with the team because the president needs to make the team more comfortable to work with him.
c) The Senior team expectation challenges would be there, as where they might share on different views and ideas.
d) Managing on the team would be difficult towards their decision making process.
e) Understanding the team and their issues would be a major issue for the new president as it would be an ongoing process for the president.
*The following advices the new president needs to be considered to build a high performing work team:-
a) Being transparent
The president needs to create a policy and procedure to maintain on the transparency, so there will not be any confusion or issues for the team.
b) Nurture the future leaders
future leaders can be generated only through the team, so that the team should have clear skill and knowledge for their career development and that helps them to complete on their work targets
c) Being Inspiration
president needs to be inspired by the team, as where the president should be the role model for the team, so that the members in the team would be more committed towards their goals.
d) Being truthful
The open communication would encourage the team to be more truthful, so that it helps the president towards improvising the growth.
e) Honor the team
The team should always be recognized and rewarded, so that motivate them towards increase on their performance of work.
