Consider a time in your life when you thought or felt like someone had a single story about you: What was this experience like? How did it happen? What did it make you feel like? How did you respond to this single narrative?
When someone has a single narrative about you, it means that there is only a single perspective that people have about you. This means that people have thought of certain allegation about you and this is prevalent among the society. Such situations may be experienced in society or in offices. The most common experience is when such situations are observed in the offices. Before I had joined my office, there was a story prevalent among my co workers, which saddened me. There was a hype that since I have been coming from a company that was of a greater reputation, I was one of the people who were arrogant and I thought of myself above other people. The narrative saddened me, because people refrained to talk me because of this narrative and even when they did, it would merely be for a minute or two, for strictly professional purposes. People wouldn’t even wish me a good morning or greet me, as they would greet others. I would always be the one who would initiate conversations and even in doing so people would try to refrain.
I had decided, that in order to get along the members, it is required to put on a happy and smiling face, such that people realise that their thoughts for me were not really appropriate. I tried not to press among people and push too hard, but a subtle try to blend in. This, in some time, cleared the air, and there was a proper environment that helped and motivated in working happily.
