Studies show that despite the stereotypes, on average, elderly people say they are more satisfied with their lives and less lonely than people in their 20's. Based on emotional and social development in late adulthood , how would you explain this?

The elderly people are more satisfied with their lives and less lonely compared to the individuals in their 20s because the individuals in their 20s are yet to begin their life. They have to choose for better career. They are building socially and emotionally stable relationships. Those who have a family at this age has to adjust to the new demands and crisis of the family life and are learning to rear their children and look after their family. Thus, 20s are life's stage of ups and downs that has many emotional and social challenges that makes the individuals in these years of life emotionally unstable and socially more aloof.

The individuals in the late adulthood have accomplished their life tasks, most of them may have retired after a successful career or are in a position where they have attained the goals of their career. They have stable relationships with their friends and family. They have successfully carried out their responsibilities towards their family. All these things makes them satisfied with their life, the experiences of life make them mature, and now they how to deal with the crisis situations than they were in their 20s. These things make the lives of elderly people more satisfied and less lonely than people in their 20s.
