-> Pavement distress means surface deterioration due to cracking, rutting and distortion. It results, decrease in load carrying capacity or decrease the safety of pavement usage.
-> Economic impact of pavement distress:
1. Pavement maintenance charges are increases: Pavement distress needs maintainance to provide safe vehicle riding, as covering the potholes, and filling the cracks, stopping the bleeding of water through pavement by that it increases the maintenance charges of pavement.
2. Vehicle damage cost: Vehicles moving on distressed pavement need more maintenance than vehicles moving on smooth and good pavements.
3. Fuel cost: Due to frequent breaking and accelerating of vehicle on distressed pavement fuel consumption is more when compared with travelling on smooth roads.
4. Cost due to accidents: pavement distress also one of reason to accidents after driver mistakes. Accidents cause more loss of money.
