What financial challenges have you overcome growing up? How have they shaped your goals and career aspirations?
My goal is to become a teacher.
I wanted to become a teacher and a teacher needs proper qualifications. My parents were not that rich and I had my other siblings to be taken care of. Myparents were able to sponsor me up to school but in order to become a teacher I needed to go to college and get a degree. I thought if I come out of my home I can already spare the money that my parents spend on me. So, after completing my school I went in search of a part time job with which I planned to support myself and my education. I strongly believe that coming to this earth as a poor is not my fault but dying as a poor is definitely my fault.
I worked full time in a retail chain for an year and saved enough to start my college. I was able to pay my tuition fees and get a stay near the college from where I started working part-time. I struggled a lot to cope up with my financial needs though out my studies but I was helped my different people who offered me help. I never got anything for free but always paid them back when I saved enough money. During the vacations I doubled my working time and at times I did double shifts to make enough money. My boss at the retail shop helped me with enough shifts.
The problem didn’t get over with my undergraduate as I had to do a teaching qualifications. I was one of the best students with high score, so I got a place in a reputed college. I was able to save more this time because I started a private tutoring service with a help of a local organisations. I was becoming more confident with each passing day as I was able earn more and save more. I was also gaining teaching experience by teaching the children. My aspiration to become a teacher remained solid and it was getting intense as days passed. Children loved me and I loved to teach them, play with them and that kept my sprits high.
As a child and as an adult I underwent lots of financial struggle that in turn stressed me out at times but my teachers motivated me and helped my from becoming a dropout. My family’s financial situation was not favourable but my parents were loving and caring. The decision to come out of home and reduce their burden and support myself was taken by me.
I wanted to become teacher to motivate hundreds of students who come to me for learning because my job is not going stop with teaching alone but it’s goingto continue by motivating them and support them morally. It’s one of the noblest job on the earth by shaping the young minds and preparing them for future.
