what different between triple pane windows and single pane windows and which one is better to use ?
In the places where extreme temperature prevail. There would be a question of the cost of airconditioning of the homes/houses.
In such cases, triple pane windows would be cost-effective SInce they are obstacles of heat.
Single pane windows are simply a panel of glass. (Now considered as outdated).
A double-pane window is two panels of glass separated by a layer of gas (Generally, the gas is argon or krypton gases (noble gases)).
the gas between the two layers of glass panels acts as an insulator of heat(sound as well more the thickness more resistance to the sound)
A triple pane window consists of three layers of glass panels separated by two layers of gas.
Note: A spacer bar is provided between two successive glass panels
A single pane window/glass doesn't offer enough insulation, and hence the costs of airconditioning shall be more in the extreme climate zones (either 500C or -180C). (since they lack an insulating layer of gas).
They are also not durable.
Energy Ratings(ER) are given based on the factors
1) Solar heat gains
2) Heat loss through AIr leakage.
3) Heat loss through frames /glass (It can have Conduction/convection process of heat loss).
The double pane window/Glass has an ER of about 28%.
The triple-pane glass/window has a much higher ER rating.
The coatings applied to the glasses reduce the heat loss/gain inside the home from or to the atmosphere.
The triple-pane glass/windows facilitate us to sit inside the home comfortably though the outside temperature is every cold or warm.
So the triple pane windows are the best in the extreme climate zone.
I hope you have understood.
All the Best.!
