In: Operations Management
From a firm you have visited or worked with, describe supply chain activities, including who is involved and what they provide.
In supply chain management (SCM), every activity can be considered which come from the procurement of raw materials /finished products to the production facility and then final good will be delivered to the end users. I have worked as an intern with Wal-Mart, USA. It is one of the biggest wholesale retail sector companies. It has global business operation. Its huge success can be said to its strong supply chain activities. After analyzing it as per value chain analysis, we can say that it has two types of activities. These are
1) Primary activities: In this inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, sales & marketing, after sales services.
2) Secondary activities:
In this Wal-Mart’s infrastructure, technological advancement, human resource management, and procurement of products can be categorized.
I have seen people Woking as operations manager, HR executives , purchase executive , sale and business development manager, Account executives etc. generally their roles and responsibilities are divided into store operations for inbound activities as well as many employees are deployed to see delivery and reverse supply chain activities.
