1) A group of software developers are geographically dispersed in three different continents of America, Asia and Europe. They use different types of communication and collaboration tools to facilitate working as team members. Explain with detail three primary challenges in terms of communication/collaboration that these software developers may face. Once explained the challenges, how do you think such teams can overcome these challenges?

2)Using an example (a job title), explain the “managerial level” of decision making, and describe the major characteristics of jobs at this level? How the use of Business intelligence (BI) helps employees at this level?

Expert Solution

The primary challenges with soolution, faced by these sotware developers are:

  • Communicating effectively and securely: While building projects or during software life cycle due to ineffective/restricted communication , goal of the developers is delayed and in some cases even unattained. To solve this issue different methods and processes needs to be included in collaborative tools,to avoid such communication gaps. In addition security of the process must be also taken into account as they would not want to disclose their project progress to others.
  • Data/code/Information access:When working on projects different developers have different tasks/specialisations and so its quite easy for a developer to get overloaded with the info on the whole project ,and not find relevant information easily  .This can be solved by use of any version control system/software which helps in synchronising information for all indivisuals as well as keep them updated of the process/project , as well as for their team mates.
  • Real-time Collaboration and Feedback : During the course of software development , its important to showcase the prototype to the team and obtain feedback, and essentially simulate office meeting environment. To overcome this problem we can use Synchronous Collaborative Softwares which have no delay in response of communicator irrespective of the location. This turns the process of feedback and information processing quite efficient.

I have sequenced roughly 24 genomes from two different continents (Africa and South America), specifically for the envelope gene of yellow fever virus. I used software to generate the dN and dS ratio for each continent Africa: (dS= 0.2065, dN= 0.0031.) dN/dS ratio= 0.0150 South America: (dS=0.5541, dN= 0.0112.) dN/dS ratio= 0.0202 Im unsure how to interpret these ratio's, and how the difference in the two suggests any differences in the type of selection for the enveloped protein in each...
