As a team member, what are some effective motivational skills you would use to improve team effectiveness/productivity?
What are your best techniques for working with a difficult person or a department (please provide example and how this was resolved)
Can you give me an example of a time that someone on your team wasn’t meeting expectations? How did you go about handling it?
1. As a team member, I emphasize upon building a strong team through mutual coordination and frequent discussions. All the activities are planned and implemented in such a way that every single team member gets involved into it and thus helps enhancing the team dynamic and creating a conducive environment. In addition to this, we collectively also ensure that nobody either does or requires any kind of micro management. This brings in greater task ownership among the team members and thus improving the resource utilization factor. Nevertheless, we also ensure that that every single achievement, every single occasion is being celebrated in the team. This activities helps us break the personal & professional barriers and further strengthens the team bonding.
2. In my perspective, a difficult person is someone who doesn't provide consent to an established process easily. He/She might require greater persuation and reasoning to bring onboard into an already decided plan. To tackle these situation with greater ease, we emphasize upon establishing a set number of benchmark practices during the decision making phase, such as brainstorming, counter questioning etc. These activities helps the team in collectively reasoning out the concerns of the difficult person and on the other hand, even the difficult person also realizes that his concerns and opinions are taken into considerations and hence providing him with the sense of team belongingness. Moreover, we also make sure that we don't over-emphasize upon compliance from the difficult person in our decisions and thus, we also ensure that his autonomy is well-protected.
3. It often happens that a team member lag in performance with respect to other team members and these situation often leads to imbalance in team's performance. To tackle such situation we carry out work allocations with greater openness so as to allocate work to each team member as per his potential and confidence. In addition to this, we also map one team member with another as each others' buddy. This activity ensure prolonged motivation and on-time guidance for every resource in crisis situations. These planned approach has greatly helped us in improving the team performance and helped us in the aspect of on time task completions.
