Expert Solution

The causes/issues of the dissatisfaction are as follows:

· The electricity bill in Kuala Lumpur has suddenly spiked up by 20 to 50% during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, which has created a big issue among Malaysians.

· There was political turmoil in Malaysia regarding the person who is responsible for the massive hike in the electricity bill that confused the local people without providing a single solution to the problem.

· The actual amount of electricity allowance is much lower than the bills that were generated, which led electricity subscribers to pay more than the original amount even after a 2% discount on each amount.

· No proper step was taken against the hike in the bill for next one month that fuelled the agony of electricity subscribers.

Hence, the entire social media had been rife with so many complaints from the electricity subscribers they were forced to pay more than 600pc while paying the electricity bill. Later, the Energy and Natural Resource Minister pacified the situation by assuring people to pay the bill according to latest-reading for a short-term measure.
