File Services provides many benefits to enterprises of any size.

·         What are some of the key benefits of File Services/DFS?

·         Create a replicate folder between the two DFS members.

On your servers change the order of referral so server1 is pick first and server2 is pick last when clients access DFS share.

Enable DFS compression (RDC) and edit the schedule so replication only happens at night, off business hours.

Create a folder quota and file screen on your DFS folders.

In this case, I’m expecting your server configuration, deployment diagram server/clients, along with answers in details of the above questions.

The benefits of using file services are:

1. Ability to be up and running: usually the small companies don't backup their data, they perform all the necessary work on the laptops and desktops at hand. In case of failure ( hardware/software failure or hard drive fails) all the data would be lost. However, local servers provide an advantage of automated backing up of data as it comes with redundant unlimited storage, power suppy and thus saves us from heartaches of data loss. Even in case of server failure or fault on server side, all the job on our side will still continue like normal.
2. Assigning permissions and orchestration of data: There can be a strict control over the access of file and folders by granting permission to a specific group to view the content and restricting others . It becomes easier to manage and use data when it is localised at a single place whether on-premise or off-site.
3. configuring VPN: we can easily access the data present on our computer from anywhere by enabling remote login using Virtual private network concept, making it effortless to work when you are not necessarily at your work place.
4. centralized control: adding and removing users is done centrally at file server, also user identification and providing passwords is also done at file server itself.
5. all the activities of the file service user is monitored including the browsing history.
6. seamless recovery of data: copies of the data are made on a file sever twice a day using a special service called volume shadow service. this feature makes it sure that we can go back in time and access all the data and files which has been accidentally deleted by us.
