As the Civil War began, politicians and ordinary citizens in both the North and the South were supremely confident of victory. Why did Southerners believe they would triumph? Why were they wrong? Why did the North ultimately win the war?
Civil War in America was fought from
1861 till 1865 and this four years of bloody civil war was the
determining factor that would bind America together as the United
States of America. Although many thought that the South with its
aggression would win the Civil War, in reality the North was
preparing itself systematically as it knows that it was a do or die
war for the entire country.
One of the major reasons is that North held more than 75% of the
wealth because all the trades were controlled and monitored by the
North. South was soon left without any monetary aid to continue the
war. The second important reason for the victory is the advanced
industrial set-up which connected the rail roads and ensured that
all the supplies reached the warfront on time. The third reason is
that the North had many factories that produces many sophisticated
weapons that gave more advantage. The final reason is that the
North was more experienced with a more organised form of
government, so everything they did was organised and people were
disciplined.
