Postmodernism is one of the approaches found in sociology. Sociology has been one of the relatively newer field in which there had been inclusion of the modernity ideals. These theories are beyond the measuring abilities. There had been modern themes along with themes of universalism as well as institutions. Postmodernism is a reaction in which there would be focus on modernity as a critique and critiques on the culture as well as institutions. The basic themes include:
This is an approach which states that acquiring knowledge would only occur by observations that are value free and there would be use of proper mathematical methods and scientific methods. This critique focuses on the fact that value free observation is not applicable and science and society cannot be applied in manners similar to that of nature. Also, there are criticisms of postmodern thinking referred to as critics, theory. This states that critical theory aims to change the society and not solely analyse it.
