Compare and contrast the difference between DNA and RNA synthesis in human cells.

Compare and contrast the difference between DNA and RNA synthesis in human cells.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Difference of DNA and RNA synthesis.

1. Major difference between initiation process it occurs at replication in DNA and in RNA initial occurs at RNA promoters 1.

2. The polymerases are DNA polymerase and RNA polymerase which are used different. Eg DNA polymerase I , II and III and in RNA, RNA polymerase I,II and III.

3. In DNA synthesis both the stands are involved while in RNA polymerase only single strand is involved.

4. After the completion of DNA synthesis two strands are created called double helix while in RNA double helix is rewound and single strand created. RNA goes into translation for protein synthesis.

5. No primer is required in RNA and primer is required in DNA synthesis.

6. Ribonuleotide are utilized in RNA and in DNA no ribonuleotides used.

7. The identity of the template and coding strand is give difference than individual genes in RNA while in DNA it is same.

8 Transcription results in RNA complement uracil in RNA and thymine occurs in DNA complement.
