Can e-procurement help to streamline the buying process? - Yes it definitely streamlines the buying process. In the e-procurement software modules are clearly defined, workflows are in place for authorization and authentication, e-procurement is secure and the most sought after feature is transparency, which makes is useful for public sector procurement very lucrative. Already the governments of Singapore, India, UK, Ukraine, US started using e-procurement systems. E-procurement helped them dealing with the corruption issues.
Might it eventually replace employees in these careers?
It depends on the complexity of the process and industry. Procurement process is different in Oil and Gas industry, mining industry than process in Retail industry. So replacing the employees completely might not be easy for complex procure process. Also, the maturity and organization change readiness will play a vital role.
