Core competency Model by Gary Hamel and C.K.Prahalad refers to the companies to take advantage of their core competency to grow their business. It is the distinct competitive advantage that a company has over its competitors and is a unique capability to provide value to the customers based on aggregated skills and knowledge, systems and processes.
Suzuki Motor Corporation has developed the core competencies to produce fuel efficient motor engines which can be used in motorbikes and small cars. The company can deploy its resources and technological expertise to partner with local suppliers in the emerging market to produce vehicles which are economic, fuel efficient, affordable and are sustainable with availability of engines and spare parts. Suzuki Motor Corp has been utilizing its competitive knowledge and experience developed over a period of time to develop general purpose engines, motorbikes, trucks and cars across the world.
