Yes, Suzuki Motor Corporation adopted the core competence model propounded by Gary Hamel and C.K Prahalad for achieving strategic advantage over its revel companies. Suzuki has a long history of devising loom to four stroke engines since the year 1909. It focused only to remain few industries than to explore its business opportunities in unrelated business segments.
According to Core competence model developed by Gary Hamel and Prhalad, it has developed its core competencies with in-depth automobile sector knowledge, technical capabilities and potential innovation across the loom engines (Now closed), automobile engines, all terrain vehicles, motor cycles, stunt vehicles, Products and accessories to boats and other auto ancillaries’ products.
Suzuki utilizes core competencies to go ahead from its immediate competitors, like Honda, Toyota, Maruti, Ford, Volkswagen etc. It has adopted rapid innovation, diversified offerings, and targets the middle income group across the globe. It export the cars manufactured in Japan to the markets like Africa, Europe, and other countries.
