A- Explain the term "waste reuse" and mention the main difference between waste reuse and waste recycle

A- Briefly describe what you know about Ozone depletion and Global warming.and Name the major risks caused by a SOx on humans? -What air pollution control device is better in removing SO4? Draw the device and label all the important components.

A- List all the three Exposure Pathways to consider in risk assessment.

Draw the Inverted Hierarchy of Waste Minimization and give one example for the reuse and recycle part of the hierarchy that can be implemented in TU campus. (Note: the arrow showing the least favoured and the most favoured options is a part of the hierarchy and should be shown in the drawing)

Question (1): Explain the term "waste reuse" and mention the main difference between waste reuse and waste recycle"

Answer:

The use of material again for the same purpose is called waste reuse. For example: reusable containers.

By reusing a material, we avoid energy required to produce or recycle it again.

Differences between waste Recycling and waste Reusing are enlisted below:

  • Recycling is an important part of solid waste management. It is considered as the primary step.
  • Recycling involves recovery or reuse of materials also.
  • Recycling may involve the making of new material by any kind of treatment whereas reuse does not involve any kind of treatment.
  • Recycling may involve energy or fuel consumption whereas reusing is environment friendly with zero energy consumption.
  • Recycling may add on to pollution whereas reusing reduce pollution.
  • Recycling may require raw materials whereas reusing does not.
  • Recycling can be done by catalytic, thermal, mechanical processes.

Recycling and reuse reduce the depletion of resources . But these options suffer from many barriers such as inability of waste authority , inconsistent regulations, range of disposal options, cost etc.
