* RETAINIG WALL IS BASICALLY CONSTRUCTED TO RETAIN THE SOIL. THERE ARE MANY WAYS , METHODS AND DIFFERNT TYPES OF RETAINING WALLS CONSTRUCTED. BUT THE MAIN THING IS TO BE KEPT IN MIND IS THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING A REATINING WALL LIKE FOR PROTECTING THE PROPERTY, AS A SUPPORTING STRUCTURE FOR ROADS AND  BRIDGES. ETC.

*BEFORE EXECUTION OF THE PLAN WE NEED TO THE CHECK THE DESIGNS AND DRAWINGS PROPERLY.

*THE MATERIAL TYPE TO BE USED BEYONG THE RETAINING WALL BECAUSE THE STABILITY OF THE SLOPES IS MUCH DEPENDENDENT ON THE SOIL PROPERTIES THAN THE DESIGN OF REATINING WALL ALONE.

* NOW A DAYS MOS COMMONLY USED ARE THE MECHANICALLY STABILIZED RATINING WALLSBEACUSE OF ITS ECONOMY , DURABITIY AND OTHER PART IS THE SUSTAINABILITY.

*SO USE OF MATERIAL FOR CONSTRUCTING A RETAINING WALL HAS TO BE THOUGHT WELL BEFORE WHETHER TO HAVE NORMAL RETAINING WALL OR MSW.

*THE FOUNDATION IN REATINING WALL ALSO PLAYS MAJOR ROLE BECAUSE IN RETAINING WALL DESIGN WE HAVE TO CONSIDER FORCES LIKE OVER TURNING, SLIDING FORCES ETC. SO FOUNDATION HAS TO BE WELL DESIGNED TO RESIST SUCH LOADS.

* THE MATERIAL PREFERED USUALLY BEYOND RETAINIGN WALL IS THE COARSE GRAINED SOIL AS WE NEED TO HAVE FRICTION BETWEEN THE SOIL PARTICLE SO AVAOID THREFGAILURE BY SLIDING. IF THE FINE GRAINED SOIL IS USED THEN THERE IS NO FRICTION AND ITS ONLY ADHESSION AND PERCULATION OF WATER OR DRAINNG OF WATER ALSO BECOMES PROBLEMATIC IN FINE GRAINED SOIL WITH NO FRICTION.
