Greater and greater emphasis is being placed on the value of collaborative working. Both from the viewpoint of the reduction in waste and the benefits of specialists being involved at appropriate project stages. Recently, these principles have been applied to project planning. With reference to project management theory discuss the implications for the project manager of these trends, paying particular attention to the implications for planning throughout the project life-cycle.
phase 1: initiation
this step involve defining objective for the project, determine whether the project is feasible, and identify the major deliverables for the project. initiation phase include:Undertaking a feasibility study,Identifying scope, Identifying deliverables, Identifying project stakeholders, Developing a business case, Developing a statement of work
the PM does research and collects information about the customer. Also he finds out the key stakeholders who are involved in the project and their roles and responsibilities in the project. Project manager act a bridge between client and employees. hence he may have to act like a team leader to coordinate the team for smooth execution of the project.if they were to direct their queries to the wrong person, there are chances that the team gets the wrong information, which would ultimately result in the failure of the project.
phase 2: Planning :
after initiation, the planning phase is accounted, the larger project are broken to into smaller tasks a team is build to complete the assignments. smaller goals are created within larger projects for high potential for success. steps involved in planning : Creating a project plan, Creating workflow diagrams, Estimating budget and creating a financial plan, Gathering resources, Anticipating risks and potential quality roadblocks, Holding a project kickoff meeting.

the plan and developments in above phases are executed in this phase.
