Every global business has to be careful about running afoul of the
Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the federal law that
prohibits paying bribes to foreign officials to “obtain or retain”
business.
The Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission
(SEC) are currently investigating 84 companies, according to the
FCPA Blog, including Walmart, JPMorgan Chase and Brazilian oil
giant Petrobras, to determine whether they used corrupt measures to
