Schemata is the plural form of a schema. A schema is a cognitive framework that helps us to organize and interpret the information. Schema helps us to understand the world around us in a simpler way by categorizing the vast number of information into different categories. Schemas can be very powerful and it influences the way we see and interact with the world around us.
Attribution is the process of assigning a reason behind a person's behavior. We use attribution to explain the causes of behavior and various events. It strongly influences the way people interact with each other. There are two types of attribution: internal and external attribution. In an internal attribution, people infer .that a person's behavior is due to personal factors such as traits, emotions, feelings, etc. In an external attribution, people infer a person's behavior is due to environmental/situation factors.
Difference between schema and attribution:
Schema helps us to effectively communicate and understand each other. It helps us to organize the information. We are cognitive misers and therefore, schema helps to build our knowledge in a manner that saves our cognitive resources and allowing us to make generalizations. Schema provides us knowledge about the world whereas, attribution helps us to make inferences. It helps us to understand the reason and motivation behind an individual's behavior.
