1 to 2 page paper on - Has Technology and Covid-19 changed the Norm for Schools and Education?
Covid 19 is a situation which has forced the countries all around the world to shut inside their houses. It's effect can be easily seen on every sector right from logistics,to small departmental stores.Nothing is spared from it's impcat. The main cure that has been suggested in this case of Covid 19 is social distancing and this has effected every corner of the planet.
Effect of Covid 10 On Schools and Education:
Covid-19 has forced universities across the countries, and the world indeed, to suspend physical classrooms and shift to online classes. This transition is not easy because many a country has no such provision earlier and since the method of teaching has changed it has effected the teaching style of educators also as now they need to teach in virtual environment. While faculty grapples with new ways of managing this sudden transition to online education, students are left clinging on to their mobile phones and computer screens.Hence we can see a major shift. The universities that adapted to online model are less affected and those who are unable to comfort itself in this transit is loss not only for the university but also students at large as their one academic year is getting wasted.Covid has impacted this sector in numerous ways and made the people in the industry to rethink about the structure. This Coronavirus-related disruption forced educators to rethink the sector and bring out the changes to reach out tot heir students. Technology has made a dominating presence in this sector too , and will continue to play a key role in educating the present generations as well as the coming one's. In a world where knowledge is a mouse-click away, the role of the educator is also evolving and must evolve. It is a good time to reflect on how this crisis can help us define what learning should look like and what evolution can be further done so such havocs do not distureb the learning of the coming generation.
Covid has made Eductaion shift online:
Basically Online education is being carried out in two ways. Firstly schools and universities are using recorded class that is they record the lecture and send it to the students for reference . Secondly it is through online classes conducted as webinars, or zoom sessions. Universities and schools require high-speed internet and education delivery platforms or learning management systems, besides stable IT infrastructure and faculty members who are comfortable teaching online. Students also need high-speed internet and computers/mobiles to attend these sessions or watch pre-recorded classes. Now Data has become an important necessity for Eductaion like other infrastructure.
Technology helps but has limits too:
The people who has access to technology will study but what about those who don't have like cnadidates in rural area where there is difficult to even get mobile signal how will they manage. Not every student has a computer or fast-streaming internet at home. This leads to issues with attendance and participation in online sessions. Online education is not as easy as it seems via microphone and laptops It is about interactions, broadening of ideas, free-flowing open discussions, debates, and mentoring of each student which has become really challenging.
