Sedimentation basins are employed both in filter plants for drinking water treatment and in municipal wastewater treatment plants. Briefly explain what solids are removed in each of these sedimentation basins.
Solids removed in the drinking water sedimentation process -
Genereally the solids removed in drinking water are inorganic matter like silt as turbidity , inorganic metals , there could be a little amount of organic matter but that is removed in filteration or disinfection process , conclusion can be taken as most of the solids removed in sedimentation in drinking water process are inorganic solids .
Solids removed in sedimentation process of wastewater -
Generally the solids removed in the waste water are the organic solids like organic wastes , the reason in the wastewater treatement is to decrease the oxygen demand so the it could be discharged without affecting the enviroment . So, the conclusion is in wate water sedimentaton process , most of the solids are organic solids .
