The first ten amendments to the United States Constitution are known as the bill of rights. The present existing ten amendments of the bill of rights were ratified on 15th December 1791. Hence, the same date is observed as the Bill of Rights Day every year, due to their significance. Bill of Rights is responsible for the representation of “We the People”. This enabled the formation of a perfect union and steps required to keep the same healthy at any circumstance. This directly handed the power to the people thus framing the present democratic government.

The Bill of Rights involves offering people the freedom of speech, freedom to follow religion of choice, freedom to assemble, freedom to approach court and use law and freedom to own arms. Apart from the freedom to own arms, all the other rights shall never ever be denied to any citizen of USA.

The citizens’ right to the freedom of speech, freedom to follow religion of choice, freedom to assemble, and freedom to approach court and use law presently denies the officials/authorities of government to go against the people. A non violent protest such as a protest against the president shall not be dealt with false arrests, shoot outs or violent attacks. The existence of bill of rights protects the people from racial discrimination. The suppression of minorities are not tolerated. The freedom of speech plays a huge role in determining who gets elected as president. The right to speech offers a chance to communicate, share and create campaign that helps to sensitize people in understanding their presidential candidates and thereby determine the growth of the nation. The same right to speech as well as right to petition, law gives the citizens the power to stand against the injustice committed by the people in power. Altogether, the bill of rights play a role in defining the democracy stand of the nation.
