(Answer) Let us first consider the dynamics of data collection in the field of research. Generally, during a research test, there are several subjects that a researcher would need to keep track of. Furthermore, the researcher would need to establish commonalities and patterns within each focus group. After this is successfully done, the researcher would have to compare and contrast the results with other random sample groups. This is needed so that the researcher would know the value of the research in a “real-world” scenario in order to establish a certain utility for the research.
Also, data collected about these individuals and groups would significantly help with future analysis and bring out information about elements that were previously unexplored. If these precepts are applied to a classroom, the teacher would be able to establish the same useful aspects of data collection.
In order to measure the growth of a particular student, the teacher scores a student after a test. This practice can be taken to a different level like that of research. For instance, the teacher could create focus groups in class and measure what aspects of the subject a particular focus group would excel at and which group would be best at the application of studies in the “real-world.” For instance, in an accounts class, the teacher could score the students after a test, score them in groups that have a proclivity for maths and numbers and finally score them based on which group/ individual would actually be successful at accountancy in the professional world.
All of this collected data would help a student realise their future prospects, improve in class in areas where research suggests that they are lacking and even adapt to different professions based on their attributes and short-comings.
