Mr. Grade’s was a new teacher whose students loved to chew gum, but it wasn’t allowed at school. To motivate his students, Mr. Grade created a classroom procedure that stated that students could chew gum during independent work. His students behaved well during independent work time, and their rate of work completion increased. One day, Mr. Grade was observed by the principal. After the observation, the principal asked Mr. Grade to see her during his planning period. From the following what is the best reason do you think the principal asked for this meeting? A minimum of 3 paragraphs are required and please justify your position with scientific evidence.
Positive perspective comes into my mind.
Principal at first must be startled how come children are eating chewing gums when it is not allowed, and next principal must have observed that children are listening to Mr. Grade. Hence intially principal wishes to ask about why the rules was broken, why chewing gums were permitetd when it is not allowed? Is Mr. Grade encouraging/allowing bad practises in school? Since Mr. Grade is new teacher, the principal is not having much knowledge of him.
Second the principal must be wondering why the children are listening to Mr. Grade, is he having good rapport iwth the kid. Or he has formed new frienndly relation by allowing them whatever tney want to do in their lives. Can this be the new way to to be in good relation with chidlren? If oractised then to what extent it must be practised?
Should one metting be held and Mr Grade should other teachers about this strategy. What would be thier reaction. Is chewing gums during independent work the thing, or allowing children to whatever they want during free hours thereby by maintaing a healthy relationship is the thing? Some more such strategys can be developed with the help of other teachers around..
