3. What are the implications for the semiconductor industry that silicon has a relatively good heat conductivity?
As the silicon is used as semiconductor in many devices.
Silicon (Si) belong to group 14 elements.
So if we doping it by the group 13 or group 15 elements. There are certain hole or negative charge carrier develop.
And these density of these hole and negative charge depends on the temperature.
But in semiconductor devices there is a lot heat generated.
So if the thermal conductivity of the semiconductor solid is high then it's easy to dissipate the heat to the surrounding. And because of silicon has thermal conductivity so if it used then whatever heat is generated due to working of semiconductor may be send to the atmosphere.
So we can say that higher the thermal conductivity of the materials better will be heat exchange with the surrounding and keep the semiconductor system stable and doesn't lead the temperature very high.
And silicone has both quality ( semiconductor + good heat conductor) which make it used it in semiconductor devices
.
So to remove waste heat generation in the computer devices it should be high thermal conductive which make process stable.
