The one thing that I learned that I did not know before was the concept of wealth cycle that was taught as a part of financial planning. The course helped me to learn and understand that optimum investment allocation for an investor will significantly depend on the investor’s wealth cycle as well as life cycle. The stages of wealth cycle are accumulation, distribution, transition and windfall. Investment allocation strategy will have to be different for each stage.

The topics that I found most interesting are financial planning process, risk profiling and asset allocation, and systematic approach to investing. These topics enabled me to develop new insights and develop a new and a more optimal approach to financial planning and management.

This new information will be highly useful for me in my future career. I am planning to pursue a career as a financial planner and the knowledge and new information gained through the course will enable me to become a more rational financial planner. The learnings have taught me that interests of my clients have to be aligned and that different individuals have different risk appetite and risk profile. Hence I will be able to better determine the products that will best suit the requirements of my different clients who are in different stages of their wealth cycle.
