Let’s select the Western Michigan University as our organization. Their anti-virus policy is available easily by searching on a search engine (google, yahoo, bing, etc.).

One of the key change I will recommend on this is that they need update the definition of what they call viruses or malicious software. The current policy does not specify what all are defined as virus, Trojans, ransomware, worms, etc. This policy should also define what all malicious attacks are covered.

The second change that is required is if there is any legal liability associated with any of the practices. For example, if someone download a virus and spreads it within the campus, who will be held responsible and what is the scope of that responsibility?

The last point is that there needs to be advice on using a firewall. That is currently not present in the document. In fact the document does not mention firewall at all. This is the first line of defense on the internet and it should be covered.
