Compare and contrast the different personality assessment methods. Which methods are more likely to create "powerful situations," and which methods are more likely to create "weak situations?" Which methods are most likely to be useful for selection purposes? If you insist upon using the interview to assess personality traits, what should you assess, and what precautions should you observe?
Different personality assessment methods comparison -
Personality assessment is a method to measure personality traits and styles. Some of the methods are -
a) Interviews -
It aims to gather information with the help of verbal and nonverbal components.
b) Rating scale -
In the rating scale, the users are asked to select from the number of choices as per their preferences.
c) Personality inventory -
It is the most common of all as most of the tests are constructed based on face validity.
In my opinion, personality inventories create powerful situations as it asks people about themselves, unlike other tests. Then each of the statements is placed on the rating scale in terms of the frequency, where those statements are judged to identify the individual attitudes. This way, each of the inventory scores shows distinctive personalities.
In my opinion, interviews may create weak situations as it is not feasible to quantify all the events that may occur in an interview. Interviews always seek the life history of the individual as well as family relationships, but the places of putting information vary.
Hope this helps :)
