How many grams of malonic acid are needed to make 50.0mL of 0.15 M malonic acid and how many grams of MnSO4 X H2O are needed to make 50.0mL of 0.020 M manganese (II) sulfate? Show all calculations
The formula of malonic acid is C3H4O4
Its molar mass is 104.1 g/mol
We know that Molarity , M = ( mass/molar mass) x ( 1000 / volume of the solution in mL)
0.15 M = ( m / 104.1) x ( 1000 / 50.0 mL)
m = 0.781 g
Therefore the mass of malonic acid required is 0.781 g

Simillarly the molar mass of MnSO4 . H2O is 169 g/mol
We know that Molarity , M = ( mass/molar mass) x ( 1000 / volume of the solution in mL)
0.020 M = ( m / 169) x ( 1000 / 50.0 mL)
m = 0.169 g
Therefore the mass of MnSO4 . H2O required is 0.169 g
