Does "Punishment" fit into the category of Realism, Naturalism, or both? Use specific examples from the story to explain your answer and show your understanding of the movement(s).

Punishment is related to both realism and naturalism. Punishment is a reality and it is given when the individual deviates from the rules of morality. It is the violation of legal Issues leading to the punishment. Through punishment one becomes civil as expected. The realists believe that the punishment is necessary for social control. They think that in establishing social norms there is need of punishment.
The conservative people believe that without punishment the value of the society can never be preserved. They also think that people are instinctively bad and they need proper law and punishment. Without law and punishment social control can never be possible.
On the other hand, the naturalists believe that by nature human beings are bad. They never strive be good if there is no punishment. It is a natural matter that they will violate law and order. It is also a natural matter that they will have barbarism in heart. Besides according to the human nature man likes to be good and civil and it is his social learning. Through social learning man needs to avoid some natural facts. They must obey the laws.
it is the nature of human being to be mischievous in some cases. People are victim various types of bad mentality. Only punishment causes natural feeling. All the people think that punishment has also become a natural issue and people familiar with it. They keep it in their mind. Gradually it also becomes a part of their naturalistic thought.
