1. a follower in a current or former relationship with a real-world manager

2. a leader in an actual or hypothetical project management situation.

The leader member exchange theory focus on the association which occur among managers and their project teams. There are three stages , such as ‘role taking’, ‘role making’ and ‘routinization’. At the first stage team members becomes the part of the team and managers assess team members’ skills and their capabilities. In the second stage, team member begin to engage more in projects and managers expects team member to showcase trust, loyalty and hard work. And in the last stage routines among team members and their supervisors are developed and well established with the help of trust, persistence and respect for each other.

  1. In the case when a follower in a current or former relationship with a real world manager showcase the trust among themselves, same personality and follow same type of work ethics like their manager. It is due to the respect for each, learning from their manager and empathy.
  2. In the case when a leader in an actual or hypothetical project management situation, is more like role taking when manager assess about his team members skills and abilities. And expect team members to learn and work on their assigned projects by showing loyalty and trust.
