What are the 4 types of retail assortment strategies?
Provide a specific retailer (type or name) example of each one.
4 types of retail Assortment Strategies:
i). Deep Assortment:
An organisation going forward with deep assortment strategy will come up with various types of colours, sizes and many other options in a particular category of product portfolio.
An example for this would be an atheletic shoe store, comes up with various colours and sizes with many options available for the customers but they donot carry or offer other variations of products in the apparel section.
ii). Wide Assortment:
Wide assortment offers wide range of products in different categories unlike deep assortment. Product categories are wide spread.
An example for this strategy would be a hardware store, which offers wide range of products the main objective of these types of stores is to provide every essential to the customer so the customer does not turn to other store.
iii). Scrambled Assortment:
In this strategy organisation attracts customers other than their taget audience by providing products other their core prodcuts.
An example of this strategy would be ice cream parlour offers variety of products like yogurt, frozen ice etc to attract various customers, With this organisations can offer services to variety of customers.
iv). Mass market Assortment:
Stores that offer large variety of assortment prodcuts, with various options available to the customer, to cover all bases of customers, so that every customer coming to the store would find their need of product.
An example for this strategy would be Amazon, Wall mart, Flipkart etc. . . all these ecommerce stores offer variety of products.
